Smiths Detection Provides Advanced Security Systems to the 2007 Pan-Am Games

Smiths Detection and Ebco Systems Enhance the Overall Security of the Pan-Am Games 2007 with an Array of Security Technologies and Solutions

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil , 1 November 2007 - Smiths Detection, part of the global technology business Smiths Group,  announced that the Secretaria Nacional de Segurança Pública (SENSASP), in Brazil awarded the company a purchasing contract for 94 HI-SCAN 6040i and 12 Hi-Scan 100100v X-ray inspection systems. The advanced systems were used to support the overall security of the 2007 Pan-Am Games, a large scale sporting event.

The security systems were used in a wide variety of screening applications including laundry, food and other merchandise entering the secure premises of the athletes’ village. These detection solutions were also utilized at the access control measures of over 20 different locations set up for the event in Rio de Janeiro.

SENASP also awarded Smiths Detections local partner, Ebco Systems Ltda.,the contract  to deploy mobile solutions for full site inspections using the Smiths Detection SilhouetteScan 300 and HCVM 4028 high-energy mobile inspection system.
